As ‘globalization’ continues through the exponential impact of scientific, technological, transportation and media advances, diverse, cultures, regulatory regimes, customs, social, professional, and physical environments are evolving to find connective paths and resonance. This mesh of interconnecting threads weaves through the nation-state and other static institutions of governance to create bonds that will lead humanity into a new formation based on this inter-connective process I have named ‘integration.’ While my work through my former law practice was committed to solving international problems through the law by addressing issues of good governance. My work and writing now is based in reconciling both legal, economic, and social frames of reference in developed and emerging, north and south, east and west, to examine dimensions of his/her stories, to populate a new evolved and integrated vision. Integration as opposed to globalization implies inclusivity of diverse points of view. It is a critical factor in approaching ways in which the global and domestic can be reconciled.
An Ethic of Care
Taking care of ourselves, taking care of each other; taking care of our planet and the myriad animal, plant and rock species that exist through an ‘integrated’ examination of our interconnected programs/filters, also implies the holistic use of our capacity for compassion, thought, innovation, and connection. This is the ethic that guides the mindful care we provide our planetary communities to narrow the steep economic, gender, racial, and power disparities toward equality of opportunity and abundance.
